Advanced-level Courses Offer Coaches Additional Option for Certification

At the beginning of the 2008 season, Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball established a leadership role in youth baseball and softball by requiring all of our rostered coaches and managers to gain certification, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. More than 80,000 coaches have been through the program, helping to ensure our kids receive the best sport experience possible.

Building on this momentum, Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball, in conjunction with coaching education partner American Sport Education Program (ASEP), introduce two new courses for baseball and softball coaches for the 2010 season:

  • Coaching Advanced Baseball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Baseball Coaches
  • Coaching Advanced Softball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Softball Coaches

Priced at only $24.95 each, these courses offer compelling attributes to meet the needs of our coaches, including:

  • More advanced training on the technical and tactical skills of baseball and softball.
  • An additional Babe Ruth League certification option particularly appealing to experienced coaches.
  • An ideal continuing education course for coaches who’ve taken the Coaching Youth Baseball or Softball course and are looking to enhance their coaching skills.

The Advanced Coaching Baseball course will be available December 2009. The Advanced Coaching Softball course will be released in January 2010. Check back here for updates on course availability.

Which course is right for you?

The Coaching Advanced Baseball and Softball courses are designed primarily for experienced coaches who are coaching a Babe Ruth League or Ripken Baseball team for the first time and need to be certified.

The advanced courses are also aimed at Babe Ruth League and Ripken Baseball coaches who completed the Coaching Youth Baseball or Softball course to achieve certification and are now looking to further their development as coaches.

Coaches with no prior experience are encouraged to take the Coaching Youth Baseball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Baseball Coaches or Coaching Youth Softball: The Ripken Way for Babe Ruth Softball Coaches course. Priced at $19.95 each, these courses provide essential information for the first-time coach on such topics as developing a coaching philosophy; communicating with players, officials, and parents; and managing a team.
